HARM REDUCTION

Harm reduction saves lives, yet many myths surround it in practice. At Mahajan Therapeutics, we believe in the power of meeting people where they are without judgment, which aligns perfectly with the principles of harm reduction.

The US is experiencing an opioid epidemic. In this country 130 people die from an opioid overdose every day, these stats, provided by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, are harrowing. We believe that these deaths are preventable, and are dedicated to providing lifesaving practices that change lives.

Harm reduction implements practical and proven strategies that greatly reduce the negative consequences associated with drug use, including increased risk, infection, hospitalizations, HIV/AIDS, and accidental overdose.

To save lives, we distribute Naloxone (Narcan), a medication designed to rapidly counteract the effects of opioid overdose. In addition to this, we distribute fentanyl test strips so that people may check their drugs to help ensure that they do not die of an accidental overdose from tainted drugs they did not intend to ingest.

These tools are part of harm reduction. They save lives and prevent needless death. They provide another chance to those struggling with addiction. Harm reduction recognizes the value in all people, including those who are struggling. Its principles teach us that when we work from compassion, and show the value of each person, it can lead to long-lasting change.

At Mahajan Therapeutics, we believe that the biggest recovery motivator is showing people their worth. We understand that when a person is valued, they are provided the opportunity to value themselves as well. This creates space for true recovery, as those who can be honest about their struggles show better recovery outcomes.

While some consider harm reduction practices to be enabling, this is not true.

Recovery isn’t linear. We cannot pick and choose when we support someone. We provide consistent support to prove that lives matter, no matter where they are.

We believe in all people.

If you or someone you love would benefit from Naloxone, please visit www.harmreductionohio.org, or reach out to us at Mahajan Therapeutics today.

We look forward to meeting you where you are, and helping you get where you deserve to be.
